Helpful cats

I've met the newest cat in the household, Sausage. He is a very sweet chap and utterly fearless provided his mother is within sight. I've been trying to do some writing today, instead of just waiting about for news so I've taken up residence in the downstairs study to do a bit of work.

It's a lovely place to write, as out of the window you can watch the poultry stride about. I can see about a dozen free-range chickens ambling about, a couple of ducks and squirrel. Yes I know squirrels aren't poultry, but it's appeared and is jumping all over the place. All the booze is stored here (the study) too, so I suppose if the writing doesn't work I can always just drink a bottle of rum to pass the time.

Anyway, while I was typing Sausage decided that he would help me with my work, he is so light that he doesn't make the keys go down so I suppose I should be thankful for that. Bless his little furry face.

Man flat

The flatmate is away this week, she is going to Cannes for some work stuff so I've got the place to myself for a week. Since I'm alone I've been doing all the things that she doesn't approve of, well most of them. I've not been out late yet, but that's because I was so exhausted on Saturday after bike school.

The main room in the flat has become a lot more blokey, instead of only having high-end fashion magazines there are motorbike magazines and manly newspapers everywhere and my bike gloves are drying in the sun. Radio 4 is on constantly in the background and I can still smell the bread I made earlier - cooking things that smell is forbidden. Tomorrow I think I'm going to roast a chicken, I can't wait.

The great chicken experiment

Tonight I will be joining the ranks of the great experimental scientists. I have a chicken which I was going to roast but instead I have decided to sort of steam-boil it. I've done this because I made the mistake of mentioning a chicken brick to a friend and thus spend the rest of the day drooling over the thought of delicious roasted chicken.

I'd love a chicken brick, and I could get one, but I just can't be bothered to get on the tube to go and visit habitat to get one. So using tinfoil, some water and a tray I have tried to copy the main features of a chicken brick, that is roasting a chicken in an enclosed space while keeping it moist.

Who knows how it will end up? Will it work? Will it be nice? All will be answered later when I eat it. That is unless I die of tinfoil poisoning.
